How you can Help
Oyster Shell Recycling Logo Get Involved - People are needed to serve as area coordinators and others are needed to maintain collection sites. Plans are to have special bins set aside for the shells at landfills, recycling centers and designated drop off sites. Once the sites are full, the volunteer would contact the area coordinator and the shells will be picked up and taken to a stockpile facility along the coast. After the shells have aged, and there is no threat of any type of contamination, the shells will be placed on an oyster sanctuary site. Civic clubs and businesses are also encouraged to volunteer - we need your help!

Give us Your Shells - Drop your shells off at a designated disposal site and feel good that you are helping conserve this important natural resource. Also, if your church or community is having an oyster roast, arrangements can be made to have special trailers brought right to the roast to collect the shells. Encourage seafood markets and restaurants you frequent to join the recycle efforts.
