PROCLAMATION

RE: WEAKFISH

Dr. Louis B. Daniel III, Director, Division of Marine Fisheries, hereby announces that effective at 6:00 A.M. Monday, October 1, 2007, the following restrictions will apply to the taking of weakfish for recreational purposes or by hook-and-line:

I. SIZE AND CREEL LIMITS

It is unlawful to possess weakfish less than 12” total length.

It is unlawful to possess more than six (6) weakfish per person per day.

II. GENERAL INFORMATION

A. This proclamation is issued under the authority of N.C.G.S. 113-170.4; 113-170.5; 113-182; 113-221.1; 143B-289.52 and N.C. Marine Fisheries Rules 15A NCAC 3H .0103 and 3M .0504.

B. It is unlawful to violate the provisions of any proclamation issued by the Fisheries Director under his delegated authority pursuant to N.C. Marine Fisheries Rules 15A NCAC 3H .0103.

C. This proclamation is issued to implement options within the conservation equivalency of weakfish size and creel limits under Addendum II of the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission’s Weakfish Management Plan. This reduces the possession limit from seven fish to six fish per person per day.

D. This proclamation supersedes Proclamation FF-25-2003, dated March 20, 2003.
