PT-1-2006 PROCLAMATION RE: CRAB, EEL, FISH AND SHRIMP POTS Preston P. Pate, Jr., Director, Division of Marine Fisheries, hereby announces that the closed pot season will reopen effective at 1:00P.M. on Saturday, January 21, 2006 in the following area only: I. AREA DESCRIPTION All areas in Pamlico Sound and its tributaries bounded in the south by a line from Roos Point (at the mouth of the Pamlico River) at 35° 22.3000’N- 76° 28.2666’W, running southeasterly across Pamlico Sound to a point on the north shore of the entrance to Silver Lake at Ocracoke at 35° 06.8833’N- 75° 59.3333’W and in the north, by a line from Sandy Point (south of Stumpy Point Bay) at 35° 37.5307’N – 75° 44.0847’W; running northeasterly across Pamlico Sound to the south end of the Oregon Inlet Highway 12 Bridge at 35° 46.0095’N – 75° 31.6257’W. II. GENERAL INFORMATION A. This proclamation is issued under the authority of G.S. 113-170.4; 113-170.5; 113-182; 113-183; 113-221.1; 143B-289.52 and N.C. Marine Fisheries Rules 3H .0103 and 3J .0301 (a)(1). B. It is unlawful to violate the provisions of any proclamation issued by the Fisheries Director under his delegated authority pursuant to Marine Fisheries Rule 15A NCAC 3H .0103. C. Pots may not be set in any marked navigation channel, in any turning basin marked and maintained by the N.C. Ferry Division, in the middle third of any other channel, or in any other location where they may constitute a hazard to navigation. D. This action is being taken because these areas have been determined to be free of pots. The remainder of the state will open to potting at 12:01 A.M, Wednesday, February 8, 2006, unless opened earlier by proclamation due to being clear of pots.
