PROCLAMATION

RE: 2005 SHRIMP AND CRAB TRAWLING

Preston P. Pate, Jr., Director, Division of Marine Fisheries, hereby announces that the following area WILL OPEN to shrimping and crab trawling, effective at 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, July 13, 2005:

CRAVEN/CARTERET/PAMLICO COUNTIES

1. Neuse River- (Map 1)

2. West Bay-Long Bay- (Map 1)

PAMLICO COUNTY

Bay River- (Map 1)

ONSLOW/CARTERET COUNTIES

White Oak River - south of a line beginning on Holland Bluff Point at 34° 44 .3000’ N –77° 07 .6166’ W, running easterly to a point on the east shore at 34° 44 .5000’ N – 77° 07 .0000" W. ALL TRIBUTARIES WILL REMAIN CLOSED. (Map 2)

ONSLOW COUNTY

1. Foster’s Creek - near Intracoastal Waterway Marker #48. (Map 2)

2. Queens Creek - from the Intracoastal Waterway to N.C. Secondary Highway 1509 Bridge. ALL TRIBUTARIES, INCLUDING PARROTT SWAMP AND DICK'S CREEK, WILL REMAIN CLOSED. (Map 2)

3. Bear Creek - from the Intracoastal Waterway to Willis Landing. (Map 2)

4. Chadwick Bay – all waters east and north of a line beginning on the north shore of Fullard Creek 34° 32 .2210’ N – 77° 22 .8080’ W running to Roses Point 34° 32 .2240’ N – 77° 22 .2880’ W then running to IWW Marker #6 with the exception of Bump’s Creek and the dredged canal at Bayview. (No Map)

GENERAL INFORMATION:

1. This proclamation is issued under the authority of G.S. 113-170.4; 113-170.5; 113-182; 113-221.1(b); 143B-289.52 and N.C. Marine Fisheries Rules 15A NCAC 3H .0103; 3L .0101 and .0202.

2. It is unlawful to violate the provisions of any proclamation issued by the Fisheries Director under his delegated authority per N.C. Marine Fisheries Rule 15A NCAC 3H .0103.

3. This action is being taken to allow the harvest of brown shrimp that are present in these areas. The mouths of the Hyde County bays will remain closed to protect small shrimp.

4. This proclamation supersedes the portions of Proclamation SH-2-2005, dated April 27, 2005; SH-3-2005, dated June 10, 2005 and SH-5-2005, dated June 27, 2005 that deal with these areas.
