PROCLAMATION

RE: 2005 SHRIMP AND CRAB TRAWLING

Preston P. Pate, Jr., Director, Division of Marine Fisheries, hereby announces that the following area WILL CLOSE to shrimping and crab trawling, effective at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 29, 2005:

CRAVEN/CARTERET/PAMLICO COUNTIES

Neuse River- southwest of a line beginning at Point of Marsh and running northwesterly to Maw Point (See Map 1).

PAMLICO/HYDE COUNTIES

1. Bay River- west of a line across the mouth of Bay River from Bay Point at 35° 11.0167’N - 76° 31.6000’W running southwesterly to a point on the south shore at Maw Point at 35° 9.2167’N - 76° 32.4000’W (Map 1).

2. Rose Bay/Spencer Bay- north of a line beginning at a point on Willow Point 35° 22.3667’N - 76° 27.8667’W, running southeasterly to a point on Judith Island 35° 21.9000’N - 76° 25.7000’W (Map 2).

3. Swan Quarter Bay/ Juniper Bay- north of a line beginning at a point at Shell Point on Swan Quarter Island at 35° 19.8667’N - 76° 22.4667’W; running southeasterly to a point on Great Island at 35° 18.4500’N- 76° 16.0333’W; then north of a line from the point on Great Island running northeasterly to a point on Juniper Bay Point at 35° 20.2833’N - 76° 13.3500’W (Map 2).

GENERAL INFORMATION:

1. This proclamation is issued under the authority of G.S. 113-170.4; 113-170.5; 113-182; 113-221.1(b); 143B-289.52 and N.C. Marine Fisheries Rules 15A NCAC 3H .0103; 3L .0101 and .0202.

2. It is unlawful to violate the provisions of any proclamation issued by the Fisheries Director under his delegated authority per N.C. Marine Fisheries Rule 15A NCAC 3H .0103.

3. This action is being taken to protect small brown shrimp that are present in these areas until they are harvestable size.

4. This proclamation supersedes the portions of Proclamation SH-3-2005, dated June 10, 2005 that deal with these areas.
