Fisheries, hereby announces that effective at 7:30 a.m., Monday, January 10, 2005, the following area will temporarily open to the harvest of
clams by mechanical means.
Core
Creek Area All public
bottoms in the maintained cut of the Intracoastal Waterway in Core Creek south of a line from the
Highway 101 Bridge to the southern end of the prohibited area approximately 350
yards south of Marker “21". Eastman Creek and Bell Creek will remain
CLOSED.
II. SIZE AND HARVEST LIMITS:
Harvest will be allowed from 7:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. A maximum daily harvest of 8,750 clams (35
bags at 250 clams per bag) in possession will be allowed per fishing operation Mondays through Fridays. The
minimum size limit will apply. No
mechanical harvesting shall take place within 25 feet of private piers or
seawalls.
III. GENERAL INFORMATION:
A. This
proclamation is issued under the authority of G.S. 113-170.4; 113-170.5;
113-182; 113-221.1(b); 143B-289.52 and N.C. Marine Fisheries Rules 15A NCAC 3H
.0103 and 3K .0301 and .0302.
B. It is unlawful to violate the provisions of any proclamations issued by the Fisheries Director under his delegated authority pursuant to Marine Fisheries Rule 15A NCAC 3H .0103.
C. This is a temporary opening based on current biological conditions and is subject to close at any time for the protection of public health.
