M-6-2010 RE: HORSESHOE CRABS – COMMERCIAL FISHING OPERATIONS Dr. Louis B. Daniel III, Director, Division of Marine Fisheries, hereby announces that effective at 12:01 A.M, Thursday, April 1, 2010, the following restrictions will apply to the commercial horseshoe crab fishery: I. HARVEST RESTRICTIONS A. The horseshoe crab season for commercial purposes is open effective at 12:01 A.M., Thursday, April 1, 2010. B. It is unlawful to possess more than 500 horseshoe crabs per vessel per trip. II. GENERAL INFORMATION A. This proclamation is issued under the authority of N.C.G.S. 113- 170.4; 113-170.5;113-182; 113-221.1; 143B-289.52 and NC Marine Fisheries Rules 15A NCAC 03H .0103 and 15A NCAC 03L .0207. B. It is unlawful to violate the provisions of any proclamation issued by the N.C. Fisheries Director under his delegated authority pursuant to N.C. Marine Fisheries Rule 15A NCAC 03H .0103. C. This proclamation supersedes Proclamation M-16-2009, dated August 14, 2009, which closed the harvest season due to the quota being met. March 26, 2010 |
