MARINE FISHERIES COMMISSION TO MEET OCTOBER 2 - 3
MOREHEAD CITY -- The Marine Fisheries Commission will hold a business meeting October 2 - 3 at the Best Western Crystal Coast Resort in Atlantic Beach.
The meeting is open to the public.
On October 1, a public meeting will be held at the same location beginning at 7 p.m. for anyone wanting to address the commission regarding fisheries issues.

In addition, the Division of Marine Fisheries will suspend license sales effective Tuesday, Sept. 16 in order to secure offices and equipment in advance of the hurricane threat.
STRIPED BASS MEETINGS TO BE HELD IN SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER
MOREHEAD CITY - A series of eight public meetings will be held from Sept. 15-Oct. 8 to receive comments on the management options in the draft Striped Bass Fishery Management Plan (FMP).
The plan's goal is to ensure the long-term viability of North Carolina's striped bass populations. A citizen advisory committee composed of fishermen and scientists worked with Division of Marine Fisheries and Wildlife Resources Commission staff to draft the Striped Bass FMP. The plan is divided into two sections: the first focuses on the Albemarle Sound and Roanoke River, while the second deals with stocks in internal waters of the rest of the state.
The public is encouraged to provide comments and to voice their opinion on the draft recommendations. Once public comment is incorporated into the plan, it will go to the Marine Fisheries Commission and the Wildlife Resources Commission for approval. The meeting dates and locations are:

FISHERIES LICENSE OFFICE TO TEMPORARILY CLOSE SEPT. 9
MOREHEAD CITY - The Division of Marine Fisheries License Office in Wilmington will be temporarily closed on Tuesday, September 9 so that staff may attend a training workshop in Morehead City.
The office, which is located at the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Wilmington Regional Office, 127 Cardinal Drive, will reopen on Sept. 10. Fisheries license offices will remain open in Morehead City, Washington, Columbia, Wanchese and Elizabeth City.
